Painted while I was living in the Antarctic at Palmer Station.  Across from Palmer Station, there's an island called Torgersen which is reachable by small rubber raft, so I spent a lot of time there watching the large penguin colony as they arrived, hatched eggs, fed chicks (that's what's going on here - the chick is begging an adult for food), and raised them until their downy fluff was mostly gone.
